What others say about Drakensang Online

Overall, saving humankind from utter destruction is loads of fun in this fantasy themed MMORPG. Although it’s still rough around the edges players get to experience the classic PC style of a hack-n-slash with a continued storyline from the previous installment of the Dark Eye series. This standalone game takes players into a medieval world where dragons and demons are running amuck. Unlike most RPGs where you have to look to find trouble, it finds you in Drakensang Online. Fight off droves of savage freaks, raid dungeons with friends, and battle others in the PvP arena to become a legend in your own right. Fans of the original series or gamers that enjoy titles like Diablo 2, Runes of Magic, and War of Titans will find this browser-based version thoroughly entertaining. - Ange Perdu@MMOHut - Ful review here.

It’s a story that, at this stage, is in danger of being done to death. But Drakensang Online is yet another MMO that has a dragon as its big bad. Where it strays from the beaten path, however, is by being a free-to-play action based romp that feels fresh and enjoyable whilst overflowing with accessibility. Developer Bigpoint Games hasn’t revolutionized the genre by any stretch, but that certainly doesn’t mean you should overlook this title. Read on to find out why you should spend some time exploring the world of Duria, even if your stay perhaps won’t last indefinitely. - Luke Karmali@MMORPG - Full review here.

Overall, Drakensang Online (DSO) underwhelmed me. The action RPG elements are basic, the MMO elements are basic, and even combining them (which I hadn't seen before) wasn't enough to draw my interest. The game is certainly playable, but between the grinding combat and the nickel and diming costs, I just don't understand how people can spend a long time with it. Originally, I had planned to play DSO until at least level 20, but in the end I just couldn't force myself to do it, and I gave up at level 18. - Steven Carter@GameBanshee - Full review here.

It’s worth repeating that Drakensang Online doesn’t break the mold where this type of game is concerned. That includes plenty of “Go there, talk to Bob” and “Retrieve 12 of this thing I dropped” quests that you’ve probably completed a thousand times before. Some of the pop-up text and other menus could use another pass, but that’s really just nitpicking. If you love Diablo style games and need to freely pass the time until Diablo III finally comes out, you’ll probably be satiated for a while with Drakensang Online. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go ice my clicking finger. - Kevin Alexander@Gamezbo - Full review here.

Gamers will have to fight as one if they wish to survive Drakensang Online’s treacherous dungeons. Players can meet up in public gathering sites such as cities or military camps to get to know each other, take on challenges together and hatch plans to march into battle united. In addition to cooperative gameplay, gamers can also test their mettle against each other in the PvP arena located in the capital of Kingshill and find out who is the mightiest hero in Drankensang Online. - MMOBomb - Full review here.

None of these ideas are new, but the game is fun enough to keep a player’s interest and the monsters come at you so fast that it doesn’t even feel like you’re killing the umpteenth Gremlin in order to get that peat shovel back. That Gremlin wants your head. It needs to be taken out before it can get it! The quest item drops are fine and good, but Drakensang’s focus is a little more on taking out them before they take out you. - Leviathyn - Full review here.
